Exhibition dedicated to 110th birthday anniversary of Moldovan poet inaugurated at National Library

Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition of documents and publications from collections of Moldova’s National Library (BNRM) and of the National Agency of Archives, occasioned by the 110th birthday anniversary of poet Liviu Deleanu, was opened at National Library today.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, BNRM director Elena Pintilei said that about 80 volumes of poetry, books for children, translations edited in various periods, newspapers and magazines with the author’s publications and articles about Liviu Deleanu, were displayed at the exhibition.
Liviu Deleanu (Lipa Cligman) was born in the Iasi city, on 8 February 1911. Deleanu wrote his first poems in 1927. In 1940, the writer fled to Chisinau; during the war, he wrote several inspired poems; after the war, Deleanu worked especially in the field of literature for small children. Liviu Deleanu is known, above all, as a poet, lyrical, stylist, an outstanding and learned wielder of words. A specific sector of self-assertion of his mastership was the sonnet.
At present, a lyceum from the Buiucani district of Chisinau bears the name of Liviu Deleanu. He died in Chisinau on 12 May 1967.
The exhibition will be opened for visitors till 28 February.
