As many as 289 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/ -A number of 1,355 samples have been processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours and 289 cases of infection with the new-type coronavirus were confirmed. As many as 164,858 COVID-19 cases have been registered in Moldova so far.

According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), 21 out of all cases are medical employees: physicians –9, medical assistants –10 and auxiliary staff -2.

As many as 2,904 patients confirmed with COVID-19 are hospitalized, of whom 225 are in extremely serious condition (35 patients are connected to assisted breathing apparatus).

In the context, 3,805 persons are treated at home with easy forms of coronavirus and 16,197 are under supervision at home.

Another 518 people have been treated. As many as 154,303 people were treated of COVID-19 in all.

At the same time, MSMPS informs about the registration of another 14 deaths triggered by COVID-19 and 3,557 people have died of coronavirus in all. The virus killed a medical assistant who had worked at the Hospice North Carolina palliative care centre from Straseni. Seventy nine medical employees have died because of coronavirus till present.
