Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s delegation disapproves of any action which limits journalists’ rights to make their job. In this respect, the participants in a weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) from 11 February voiced regret about the incident which had taken place two days earlier at the post No 11 (right) of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces with the involvement of journalists of a TV station, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The worrying incident was discussed also at a meeting of the Joint Military Command on the eve. In the context, Moldova’s delegation urged the sides in the peacekeeping process to have a better cooperation and communication, in order not to harm the rights and freedoms of the citizens and not to create new hotbeds of tension in the Security Zone.
At the same meeting, the discussions on the formation of the agenda did not get the sides closer and the ordinary meeting, during which a string of problems with direct impact on the Security Zone’s regime were to be discussed, was not opened.
Moldova’s delegation condemned the destructive position of the Transnistrian side, which have been blocking the JCC’s meeting during more months.
The declaration signed by Moldova’s delegation shows the continuous degradation of the situation in the Security Zone, especially starting from 2020, when Tiraspol’s representatives allowed a record number of infringements of the provisions contained in the documents of the peacekeeping operations.
The ordinary meetings of the Joint Control Commission have not been held since October 2020, for reasons that the subjects proposed for the agenda were turned down. the Transnistrian side categorically refuses not only to identify solutions, but at least to discuss the problems on the kidnapping of people, which took place in the Security Zone, the situation emerged in the Security Zone after the abusive introduction, in May 2019, of the so-called border guards, starting the elaboration of a regulation of the Joint Military Command or about the reasons for the non-signing of their reports.
Moldova’s delegation considers that these actions by Tiraspol mean nothing but a deliberate blocking of the peacekeeping process and its discrediting before the residents from the two banks of Dniester.
