Construction of bridge across Bic river, passage on M1 road to be resumed in Moldova in late February

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - The works on construction of a bridge across the Bic river and passage across the railway on the national road M1, Border with Romania – Leuseni – Chisinau – Dubasari – Border with Ukraine, km 95-96, will be resumed in late February, according to the provisions of the new contract, the State Administration of Roads (ASD) has reported.   

At a today’s meeting of the ASD leadership with the entrepreneur, an announcement was made about the resumption of the works on assembling the superstructure of resistance, arrangement and road layers on bridges and carrying out, on the segment of the M1 national road, of works of cutting trees, demolishing the present road system and arrangement of bituminous layers nearby the road of access to the Pruncul industrial zone.    

"The bridge across the Bic river and passage across the railway ensures the connection with the neighbour states, Romania and Ukraine, being a complex, strategic project, important for Moldova’s infrastructure,’’ the ASD acting director general, Veaceslav Potop, has said.  

The tender on the works on construction of the bridges on the M1 national road was held in late December 2020. The contract worth over 34 million lei was signed in late last January and is financed with road fund’s sources.   

The project provides for the restoration of the bridge across the Bic river with four openings and a length of 80 metres and the passage across the railway – with three openings and a length of 60 metres. The entrepreneur assures that it would fully finish the construction works till late 2021.
