Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has repeatedly put forward Natalia Gavrilita for the office of prime minister. The head of state made statements to this effect minutes ago, following consultations with the parliamentary factions.
„I asked Natalia Gavrilita to prepare the governmental team and come to parliament,’’ Sandu said.
The Moldovan president specified that a letter signed by 54 lawmakers, who put up Mariana Durlesteanu for the office of PM, had been submitted to the Presidency.
“Today, we had a new round of consultations with the parliamentary factions, just as the Constitution demands. Also today, I received a letter with a proposal for the position of prime minister, signed by 54 MPs. In this list, I discovered signatures by persons, in relation to whom there are doubts that they have expressed their will freely and I mean here the people who were kidnapped, who were hostages. Also, the list contains people involved in the one-billion-dollars theft and lawmakers who changed more political parties. In these conditions, I ruled to put forward Natalia Gavrilita again,’’ Sandu said.
Natalia Gavrilita and her team of ministers today did not receive the vote of confidence of the Moldovan parliament. None lawmaker voted for the swearing in office of the cabinet of ministers. Under the Constitution, President Maia Sandu must nominate a candidate for the PM office for the second time.
