Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ - The powers dealing with the ensuring of public order on the occasion of meetings, cultural and sports events or other similar activities, as well as on re-establishing public order will switch to the competence of the carabineers as of 1 January 2022. The parliament adopted a draft law to this effect in the final reading today.
The legislative initiative belongs to a group of lawmakers of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) and is meant to extend the period of finishing all actions of the Strategy of Reformation of the Carabineers Troops for 2017-2020, which expired in late last year.
”The need to work out the present draft law has at it basis objective realities (pandemic, ceasing of programmes on development of carabineers on behalf of development partners), which triggered failure to properly implement so far all actions of the Strategy of Reformation of the Carabineers Troops for 2017-2020, as well as the risk of their non-implementation till the finishing of the period scheduled (late 2020). Through amending the Article 38, decision-makers will ensure the process of full completion of the professionalization of the General Inspectorate of Carabineers,’’ reads the draft’s informative note.
