Moldovan acting cabinet approves plan on organization, holding of events dedicated to Memory Day

Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ - The acting cabinet’s members, at a today’s meeting, approved a decision on the organization and holding of the events dedicated to the Memory Day, marked on 2 March.
The acting cabinet set up an organizational committee for the organization of the events dedicated to the Memory Day, marked on 2 March – the day of commemorating the people who died in the 1992 armed conflict for the defence of Moldova’s integrity and independence and the victims of this conflict. The committee will be chaired by acting Defence Minister Victor Gaiciuc.
Also, the acting cabinet approved a plan on events dedicated to the Memory Day. The carrying out of the actions included in the aforementioned plan will be made at the expense of the means approved in the budget of the authorities involved, as well as from other sources, under the legislation.
The government recommended that the local public authorities identify the financial means necessary for carrying out the actions seen in the above-mentioned plan. The control over the fulfillment of the present instruction is entrusted with the organizational committee.
The parliament today approved a draft on amendment of the decision on the commemorative days, holidays and days-off in Moldova. Under the document, the Memory Day, marked on 2 March, will be renamed into Memory and Gratitude Day.
