Moldovan goovernment approves three candidates for office of European Court for Human Rights on behalf of Moldova

Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved three candidates for the office of judge of the European Court for Human Rights (ECHR) on behalf of Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
It is about Diana Scobioala, Vladimir Grosu and Nicolae Esanu. They got the highest number of points at the second stage of the national contest for the nomination of candidates for supplying the position of judge at ECHR, held on 27 January 2021.
In continuation, the government will submit the list of candidates for consultation to the consultative panel of experts on the candidates for elections as judge at ECHR.
„We wish success to the three candidates selected by the national commission; it remains that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe elects the final candidate, who will represent Moldova at the position of judge at ECHR,’’ acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi said.
To observe the provisions of the law No 239/2008 on the transparency of the decision-making process, the draft is placed on the Justice Ministry’s official webpage. The decision of the commission for the selection of candidates for the office of ECHR judge, as well as the average number of points got by each candidate can be visualized also on the official webpage of the Justice Ministry.
