Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, at a today’s cabinet meeting, was informed about the current epidemiological situation in Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
According to data presented by the state secretary at the Health Labour and Social protection Ministry (MSMPS), Tatiana Zatic, the number of cases of new infections of patients in serious condition grew by 30 per cent this week. Thus, to ensure the citizens’ access to medical services, the authorities increased the number of places in hospitals for the treatment of patients infected withSARS-CoV-2 virus.
„This is an extremely big burden on the medical system. The capacities of hospitalization are diminishing. We reactivate the beds which were deactivated in last January. Today we additionally opened 130 beds in the Chisinau municipality and reopened the Municipal Hospital of Phthisiopneumology. We carry out all needed measures, to ensure the citizens’ access to medical assistance; yet, it is also important that the residents observe the protection measures,’’ Tatiana Zatic said.
In the context, acting PM Aureliu Ciocoi said that, if the dynamic of new cases of infection with COVID-19 is maintained, tougher restrictive measures would be necessary to be introduced.
„In the last days, we have had an ever higher figure of new infections; we reach 1,000 infections per day, which worries us. On this occasion, I urge citizens to be more cautious in observing the sanitary norms. On the days to come, we will summon a meeting of the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission, during which the needed decisions will be taken to prevent new cases. The decisions will not be easy; we will have to take radical measures, in order to ensure Moldova’s epidemiological security,’’ the prime minister added.
Presently, 8,382 active cases of patients infected with the SARS-Cov-2 virus are registered in Moldova.
