Moldovan literary critic, historian passed away

Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/- Literary critic and historian Timotei Melnic, PhD in philology, university professor at the Faculty of Letters of the State University of Moldova, passed away yesterday. On February 22, he would have turned 86 years old.

The announcement about the passing into eternity of professor Timotei Melnic was made public by the dean of the Faculty of Letters of the State University of Moldova, Adriana Cazacu.

Adriana Cazacu said that Timotei Melnic was a researcher in literary theory and mentor of dozens of generations of philologists, a man of rare modesty and special decency.

He is the founder of the newspaper "The Young Teacher". He led the literary circle in college. According to the specialists in the field, through monographs and teaching materials, through numerous studies and articles published in specialized journals, Timotei Melnic has made a name for herself in the field of theoretical-literary investigation. He trained dozens of generations of philology students.
