Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - The adaptation of the education system to the new realities, access to the quality education, challenges in the education sector, as well as the potential of development of business in Moldova have been the subjects of discussion of President Maia Sandu, her adviser in the education and research sector, Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei, today had with professors and students of the Moldovan Technical University (UTM), the presidential press service has reported.
„I was glad to see again the devoted professors, whom I thanked for the self-denial with which they do their job of forming the new generation and with whom I discussed the current challenges of Moldova’s education system – challenges which are of the entire society. And I was happy to know enthusiastic young people, whom I spoke about my own experience as student in the country and abroad. I urged them to turn to good account all opportunities of education, provided by the present world, after which to return home and help develop Moldova,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The head of state visited the classrooms, diverse IT laboratories and those from the Food Products Technology Faculty. Sandu appreciated the way they looked, as well as what UTM was doing at present, especially the fact that it is an institution which preserved its modern and innovating spirit during the pandemic too, managing to be adapted to the new realities and ensure the quality of education process.
The Moldovan president gave assurances that, along with her team, she would do her utmost to create better conditions for living and labour, in order to start businesses and ensure fair access to justice, in order to bring investors, who are to create well-paid jobs. ‘’Equally important is that we work out a clear and inclusive concept of economic growth, with emphasis on small- and medium-sized enterprises, which is to work all over the country. These are simple and natural things, which can yet be a great argument for the new generations, including for the current UTM students,’’ the head of state stressed.
UTM founded in 1964. Presently, 730 lecturers teach and more than 9,500 students study there.
