Pilot project on implementing electronic payment system in public transport from Moldova's capital to start in next mid-March

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - The pilot project on the implementation of the electronic payment system in the public transport from the Chisinau city will start in the middle of next March.   

According to the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, this week, a new meeting on the implementation of the electronic ticketing system will take place, in which all actors in charge of this process will participate.   

The mayor noted that more scenarios were to be given final touches, in order to comprise all categories of citizens, including the people who have season ticket for public transport or the people who benefit from facilities at the travel in public transport. Ceban said that the project would be piloted in 90 trolley buses (on routes 10, 22, 30, 32) and 46 buses (the numbers 2, 5, 9, 19, 26 and 33).  

The pilot project will start in March 2021 and will last six months after the launch. Till the date of the project’s starting, the public transport and communication ways general department, the municipal enterprise Chisinau Electric Transport Administration, municipal enterprise, Urban Park of Buses will conclude contracts with the operators of providers of electronic payment services, the employees of the municipal transport enterprises will be trained and the electronic equipment will be set in the public transport.
