Moldovan Constitutional Court turns down application on suspension of decree on nomination for PM office

Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Constitutional Court (CCM) today issued its ruling, thereby turning down the application on the suspension of the action of the Moldovan president’s decree from 11 February 2021 on the nomination of the candidate for the office of prime minister.
At the same time, CCM informed that the consideration on the merits of the notification submitted to the Court by lawmakers Vasile Bolea, Grigore Novac and Alexandr Suhodolski would take place on 23 February 2021, starting from 10:00.
The court session will be public and will be broadcast on the Internet networks and only the invited people will have access to the session hall of the Constitutional Court.
The notification was submitted to CCM by the aforementioned MPs of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), after President Maia Sandu had repeatedly put forward Natalia Gavrilita as candidate for the position of PM on 11 February.
On the same day, PSRM informed that it had put forward its own candidate for the office of prime minister, Mariana Durlesteanu, who was backed by 54 lawmakers of the PSRM faction, faction of the Shor Party, Platform for Moldova, MPs Vladimir Andronachi and Alexandru Oleinic.
