Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - About 1,200 tons of diesel from the humanitarian assistance of 6,000 tons, provided by Romania for Moldovan farmers hit by drought, were delivered to the authorities of Moldova today.
Attending the event were the head of the National Administration of State Reserves and Special Issues from Romania, Gheorghe Alecsei, Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita and Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Ion Perju.
According to the Embassy of Romania in Chisinau, this humanitarian assistance is part of the package of support for Moldova’s citizens, announced by President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, on the occasion of his visit to Chisinau on 29 December 2020, and completes other actions, among which the donation of more than 300,000 doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccine, as well as medical equipment worth 2.3 million euros.
In a message posted on her official page, President Maia Sandu thanked the leadership of Romania for support. ‘’We will attentively monitor the process of diesel’s distribution – this assistance must reach the farmers who need it most of all as soon as possible. The Material Reserves Agency should ensure a transparent and correct process,’’ Sandu said.
Those 6,000 tons of diesel are to be delivered entirely to the Moldovan authorities on the immediately next period, through more successive transports.
