Number of patients with serious forms of COVID-19 recorded in Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri increases

Chisinau, 23 August /MOLDPRES/ - Eight cases of infection with COVID-19 were registered in the Gagauz autonomy on 22 August. The authorities of the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri warn about the increase in the number of patients with serious forms of this disease.
According to the health and social protection department of the region’s executive committee, six of these eight cases were recorded in Comrat and two – in Ceadar-Lunga.
On 23 August, 63 patients are hospitalized at the infectious diseases sections of UTA Gagauz-Yeri. Another 21 people are in a quite serious condition.
Also, a 74-year-old man died in the autonomy because of the complications triggered by the new-type coronavirus in the last week-end.
UTA Gagauz-Yeri registers the lowest vaccination rate in Moldova, with less than 10 per cent of the residents immunized. The Chisinau municipality is among the leaders, with over 20 per cent of the population vaccinated.
