Economy, budget, finance commission's MPs visited ZEL Balti

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/- Members of the Economy, Budget and Finance Committee paid a visit to the Japanese-German company Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze (SEBN) - a resident of the Balti Free Economic Zone (ZEL), Orhei Subzone.
MPs talked to Marin Ciobanu, the administrator of ZEL Bălți, and with Igor Corman, the director of the company. They also became familiar with some aspects of the production processes and working conditions of the company's employees.
The chairman of the Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance, Dumitru Alaiba, said that the purpose of the visit was to understand how the parliamentary commission could be useful to investors and employees of companies in free economic zones.
Following the discussions, the investors' representatives launched several legislative proposals that can contribute to increasing the investment attractiveness of the economic areas in our country.
At the end of last year, the number of employees of the Balti Free Economic Zone exceeded 9,800 people, the total volume of investments during the activity amounted to 222.3 million US dollars, and the salary fund is about 60 million US dollars annually.
