National Fair of Carpet to take place in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - The eighth issue of the National Fair of Carpet will take place at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History (MNEIN) on 18 December during 11:00-15:00. The event is organized, given that the file titled, Traditional techniques of making carpet in Romania and in Moldova, was registered in the UNESCO Representatives List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on 1 December 2016.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, MNEIN director Petru Vicol said the goal of the Fair was to turn to account the traditional carpet, know the basic motifs and symbols of the carpets, as well as the significance of the carpet in the context of the Moldovan wedding.
The event is organized by the Moldovan Culture Ministry, in partnership with the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, the Rustic Art Complex of Trades, with the support of the National Inbound Tourism Association of Moldova (ANTRIM), through the backing of the Activity of Support of Competitiveness in the Light and Tourism Industry, an Evidence and Data for Gender Equality (EDGE) (Buy-in) project, financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development.
The artistic programme will be held in the museum’s yard, with the observance of the measures of preventing the spread of the infection with the COVID-19 virus. The exhibition will be accessible for public till 20 February 2022.
