According to the institution’s director, Onorina Burlac-Tanas, the subject of the beheading of the Saint John the Baptist was significantly pointed out in January, when the holiday of the last prophet of the Old Testament is marked. This subject of the Bible gives us the meditative occasion about the nature of the human destinies. Many artists have been attracted by the extravagant fate of the beautiful Herodias, the wife of Herod Antipas and the one of her daughter Salome, who asked for the beheading of the Saint. The first far-reaching invocation of this motif was imposed in 1905, when he Salome opera, composed by Richard Strauss, inspired from a text by writer Oscar Wilde, was presented in Dresden.
