Chisinau, January 27 / MOLDPRES /- Dumitru Scvortsov-Russu Museum of History and Ethnography in Calarasi has been equipped with an individual set of furniture under a cross-border project implemented by the Regional Development Agency (ADR) Center.

The arrangement of the museum in Călăraşi is part of the project MuseumInfoTur - increasing visibility of cultural and historical heritage within the cross-border network of museums - Tourist Information Centers. So far, three of the seven Tourist Information Centers in the Central Region have been equipped with the program.

"The creation of the Tourist Information Center has been discussed for about five years and has a well-defined outline. These centers need to be located in all districts or cities that have major potential for tourism development and promotion. We have tourists visiting us, especially foreigners, who do not know what they could see in the city, or, this center will help them easily find the destinations ", said Mariana Iurcu, museographer and tourist guide.

According to Călăraşi mayor Ion Olari, the Center within the City Museum, in addition to bringing cultural and tourist added value, will also contribute to the socio-economic development of the city. "The development of the tourism sector and services directly helps to develop a locality, as well as to increase the quality of life, the standard of living for its inhabitants. Tourism is also one of the activities that brings benefits in the development of many areas. The activity that tourists bring to the area, through the products and services purchased, returns in the form of investments in the community or as direct income of those who work in the fields directly targeted ", he said.

The project aims to increase the visibility of the cross-border cultural and historical heritage of the Central Region, Republic of Moldova, and Galati County, Romania, by strengthening the capacities of cultural institutions and creating a network of Tourist Information Centers in major destinations.

The implementation period of the MuseumInfoTur cross-border project is April 14, 2020 - May 13, 2022. The project is carried out by the Regional Development Agency (ADR) Center, in partnership with the Association for Tourism Development in Moldova (Moldova) and the Association for Cross-Border Cooperation Lower Danube Euroregion (Romania), funded by the European Union through the European Neighborhood Instrument and co-financed by the project beneficiaries.
