Chisinau, March 19 / MOLDPRES /- Today, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița met with Deputy Secretary General, Political Director of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Enrique Mora, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Officials welcomed the new Moldovan-EU dialogue format in the field of foreign and security policy, launched following the decision of the Association Council of the Republic of Moldova - European Union of October 28, 2021. This platform will give the parties the opportunity to discuss the situation in the region. addressing regional security and stability.

The Prime Minister stressed that currently, the efforts of the Chisinau authorities are aimed at mitigating the economic impact of the war, overcoming the humanitarian consequences and the refugee crisis - currently 105 thousand foreign citizens remain in our country.

In this regard, Natalia Gavrilița appreciated the support of EU member states, including in the process of managing the flow of refugees, emphasizing that the European Union remains the main partner of the Republic of Moldova, and the European option of our country is irreversible.

"Our country's application for EU membership is a strong expression of our commitment to European values ​​and aspirations. At the same time, the crisis in Ukraine has temporarily refocused our efforts on managing immediate emergencies, but we hope to return to normal as soon as possible, move forward with the implementation of the Association Agreement and build our country's future in the EU, "said Natalia Gavrilița.

For his part, Enrique Mora assured that the EU will stand by the Republic of Moldova in overcoming the challenges it faces, noting the efforts of the Chisinau Government, both in managing the current crisis and in advancing the reform agenda.

"Since the investment and until now, the Executive has taken quick and impactful decisions regarding anti-corruption reforms, strengthening the judiciary and state institutions. We will continue to help you with everything we can, to support the reforms started and your European path ", mentioned Enrique Mora.
