Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/ - A young family Olarescu has returned to Moldova from Ireland, in order to develop a peasant farm founded by their parents in the Gura Galbenei village, southern Cimislia district. The farm meets all European rigours and has 20 hectares of vineyard, from which the family harvested about 165 tons of grapes and produced 14 tons of wine in 2021. The production is exported to the European market – Ireland and Spain.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today visited the farm and discussed with its owners the development of the business and the modern technologies applied, in order to ensure the competitiveness of the native production on foreign markets. The farm benefited from support of the PARE 1+1 programme, meant for the Moldovans who return from the Diaspora and are willing to invest in a business at home. The farm also accessed subsidies through the Agency of Interventions and Payments for Agriculture. Thus, agricultural technology and needed equipment were bought for the processing of grapes.
„We took the vineyard from my father and we very much want to develop a success business here, at home. We dream our winery to be inherited by our sons; therefore, we do our utmost and put our love in this work,’’ the peasant farm’s owner said.
The PM expressed the government’s openness for providing, in continuation, needed support to farmers, especially on the period when they face difficulties, given the increase in prices. The cabinet has already extended the area of subsidies’ intervention, increased the subsidization fund in agriculture and, when rectifying the state budget, additionally allocated 700 million lei for programmes on backing the business environment in agriculture.
„As much as 250 million lei out of the 700 million will be used for supplying the national fund of development of agriculture and rural environment and partial compensation of excise duties on diesel. We want to help the farmers, but also to create conditions in which people will remain to work at home, in Moldova. I am happy to see, through the example of your family, how the Diaspora returns home and does such a good job,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.
The prime minister also informed about a grant call, launched by the government, in partnership with the Organization for Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM), for backing entrepreneurs, as well as other programmes on the support of young people, from which they can benefit.
