Moldovan Customs Service says export of sweet cherries, cherries records growth of more than two times

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ - The export of sweet cherries and cherries from Moldova has recorded an increase of more than two times this year.
According to the Customs Service (SV), the export in sweet cherries grew by 117 per cent and the one of cherries – by 99 per cent. Thus, economic agents exported more than 12,000 tons of sweet cherries (about 640 trucks) and over 3,000 tons of cherries (about 160 trucks).
SV said that, in term of value, the exports of sweet cherries were estimated at over 215 million lei (about 10.7 million euros), which is up by 202 per cent against over 91 million lei in 2019, about 116 million lei in 2020 and over 71 million lei in 2021.
As for the export of cherries, the goods’ value is estimated at over 38 million lei, which is by 183 per cent more against over 13 million lei in 2021.
The customs authority enforced a mechanism of facilitating and prioritizing the export of easily perishable farming goods (vegetables and fruits), in order to ensure conditions needed for charging customs duties and crossing these products at the border as a priority.
