Moldovan government approves starting negotiations for joint control when crossing border at Leuseni-Albita

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - The crossing of the Leuseni-Albita state border will be facilitated and the waiting time in customs will be shortened through the carrying out of the joint Moldovan-Romanian control, based on the One Stop Shop. The cabinet of ministers today approved the starting of negotiations on a draft agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania on the coordinated control at the road state border crossing point Leuseni-Albita in the direction of entrance in Romania, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The draft’s goal is to develop the relations of cooperation between the structures with powers at the borders of Moldova and Romania in the field of integrated management of borders. Also, the carrying out of joint activities will help enhance the institutional capacities of the border authorities, as well as adjust the control procedures to the European Union’s standards.
At the same time, the agreement will contribute to the guaranteeing of the security of the Moldova-Romania border, which is an external border of the European Union, as well as to ensuring the national security, economic well-being of both states, preventing and combating the cross-border organized criminality and international terrorism.
