Chisinau, August 10 /MOLDPRES/- The successful experience of implementing the CUPS pilot program (Unified centers of providing public services) at the local public administration level and the success recorded in the 17 rural localities in the country, since the start of the program (February 2022) has awakened the interest of several town halls to modernize the public services offered at the local level to citizens, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved today the amendment of the Government Decision regarding the piloting of the Unified Centers of providing public services, which provides for the expansion of this concept from 17 to 80 town halls, which have expressed their intention to bring innovation to the locality.
The document also provides for the co-optation within the CUPS Program of several public service providers, who will express their willingness to participate in the project, the possibility of establishing CUPS through territorial public libraries and the expansion of the range of services provided through this instrument for ensuring administrative decentralization.
The aims pursued by the project are: increasing beneficiaries' access to public services; increasing the number of electronic public services provided; ensuring extended social inclusion, especially of disabled people and vulnerable groups; bringing the Government closer to citizens and increasing their confidence in the modernization and digitalization of public services, as well as creating the premises for an inter-institutional collaboration between different public service providers and other central and local public administration authorities.
According to the vice-prime minister for digitization, Iurie Țurcanu, this will ensure the implementation of the provisions of the Law on public services at an accelerated pace, which provides the general framework for implementing the single window principle, including through CUPS.
The implementation of the CUPS Pilot Program within the local public administration authorities will be covered from the account and within the means of the Modernization of Government Services Project, implemented by the Electronic Government Agency public institution with the support of the World Bank Group and represents about 11. 5 million lei.
