Chisinau, 28 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The prospects for expanding Moldovan-Japanese cooperation and turning to good account the opportunities to implement potential bilateral projects were analyzed today at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihiko Tanaka.

According to the government's communication and protocol department, the discussion focused on the projects carried out with the support of JICA in our country, as well as those underway. In this context, Gavrilița thanked the JICA official for the assistance in the management of pandemic crises and refugees, as well as for the constant support provided by Japan in order to modernize key areas, such as: agriculture, health or environmental protection.

"We have confidence in the potential of the Republic of Moldova on the way to modernization and cultivation of democratic values. With the support of our partners, with whom we share common values, such as Japan, we will manage to overcome all these crises and build a European and prosperous state", Gavrilița said.

The premier requested additional funding from the Japanese government in the context of the crises caused by the war in Ukraine and the need to support families and businesses in Moldova, following the increase in costs for energy resources and other essential products.
