Customs Service collected over 762 million lei last week

Chisinau, Oct. 24 /MOLDPRES/- On 17-23 October the Customs Service collected over 762.5 million lei (about 38.1 million euros) to the state budget, up by 7 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the Customs Service, private people introduced goods whose customs value exceeds the non-taxable limit, and payments totaling over 18.7 million lei were collected, which represents 2.6% of the total amount collected. The money collected from taxpayers is paid directly into the state budget and redistributed for salaries, infrastructure development, social projects, etc.

Last week, 12,044 customs declarations were completed, and the flow of means of transport was 75,377 crossings.

In terms of the fight against fraud, 87 violations of customs legislation were found and fines of over 834 thousand lei were applied.

Since the beginning of this year, the Customs Service has collected about 26.8 billion lei to the state budget, up by 20.5% compared to the same period last year.
