Chisinau, 6 January /MOLDPRES/ - The pollutants were within the admissible limits in the last 24 hours, after high pollution values had been recorded in the Moldovan capital several days in a row. The Environment Agency has made statements to this effect.
According to the Agency, the factors which contributed to the improvement of the atmospheric air’s quality and respectively to the dispersion of pollutants in the air, were: influence of atmospheric fronts, alternation of air masses, light rains in places and the moderate south-western wind.
“While on 30 December, high concentrations of suspended particles PM 10 were registered, with the limit exceeded 2.8-fold, then starting from the first hours of 4 January 2023, the situation concerning the air’s quality improved significantly. Thus, the concentration of suspended particles (PM10) decreased and recorded values within the admissible limits. Beginning with the second half of this day, especially in the evening, the attenuation of the wind and the formation of the retention layer triggered an increase in the concentration of noxious substances in the atmospheric air; thus, the average value registered on 4 January was 61.5 µg/m3, respectively, it exceeded the limit 1.2-fold,’’ reads the communiqué issued by the institution.
In the last weeks, the air’s quality worsened in Chisinau, with the pollutants exceeding the norms admissible.
