Chisinau, 10 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS), jointly with officers of the National Investigations Inspectorate (INI) of the Police, have detailed a man from Balti, after he had put forged U.S. dollars into circulation.
According to PCCOCS, following searches, law-enforcers raised 117,000 forged U.S. dollars from the suspect. The man is 47 years old and was detained in Sangerei on 9 January.
Preliminary data shows that the forged money would have been brought by the suspect from Turkey to Moldova in last December. The forged dollars would have been taken over by the suspect from the leader of the crime ring who entrusted him the money for putting it into circulation. In November 2022, the leader was detained in Bulgaria at the Turkish border, when he tried to introduce to this state forged 70,000 dollars, hidden in the vehicle’s floor. The investigation authorities also know about the involvement of other members of the crime ring, who are to be identified and prosecuted under the criminal law.
