Moldovan foreign minister visits Brussels

Chisinau, February 20 /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration pays a working visit to Brussels on February 20-21. He will present the priorities of the new Government of the Republic of Moldova to the European partners, and will discuss our country's accession to the EU, the implementation of reforms and the transposition of the community acquis into national legislation, the MAEIE press service has reported.
Popescu will participate in the work of the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union. He will refer to the progress in implementing the 9 recommendations from June 2022 of the European Commission and to the acceleration of the process of harmonizing national legislation with that of the EU. The Moldovan official will also address the threats facing our country, regional security in the context of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine, strengthening the country's resilience and the important support that the European Union offers us in this regard.
Popescu will have meetings with Stefano Sannino, Secretary-General of the European External Action Service, Antonio Tajani, Vice President of the Italian Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gert-Jan Koopman, Director General of the Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, as well as other European officials.
On the sidelines of his visit to Brussels, Popescu will give several interviews to the international press.
