Moldovan parliament speaker meets residents of two villages from south-eastern district

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu on 24 February paid a visit to the south-eastern Stefan Voda district, where he met residents of the Volintiri and Popeasca villages. Igor Grosu talked with people about the problems in the justice sector, bad roads, corruption in institutions, increase in prices, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
„I listened to people’s problems, which are, in fact, problems which affect the entire country. We discussed also the reforms underway in the key sectors and only with joint effort we will manage to align the country with the European values,’’ the parliament speaker said. He also informed about the measures of support of the population and the business, announced by the cabinet for the immediately next period.
Igor Grosu also had a meeting with business people from this district. Most of them are involved in agriculture and their farming products, of the best quality, the production of noble wines, fruits and vegetables are known both in Moldova and abroad. The biggest problem faced by the farmers from the region for more years has been the lack of a functional irrigation system. The parliament speaker stressed that this problem must be solved not only in Stefan Voda, but also all over Moldova. ‘’A priority of ours is to back those who work and create jobs. I also informed them about the projects launched by the government and the drafts voted, mean to help the business people,’’ Igor Grosu noted.
In the Popeasca village, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu visited the kindergarten from the settlement, which in the last years had benefited from European funds and presently children there enjoy good conditions, as the building is energy efficient. Also in the Popeasca settlement, through the European Village programme, the community centre is under repair and is to be made available for use in next summer. Sixteen projects worth 56 million lei in all are implemented. It is about projects on the extension of water and sewerage networks, renovation of kindergartens, community centres, modernization of street illumination networks, construction of a mini-stadium and of a photovoltaic power station.
„These are concrete works, which will be finished quite soon and which will enrich the living of the communities from these settlements. I urged the people to be more active and to be prepared for a new round of the programme, which will continue in 2023. Despite all difficulties, we will continue the reforms and will together manage to change the life of our citizens for the better,’’ the parliament speaker added.
