Chisinau, March 16. /MOLDPRES/- Legal entities under public law and certain service providers will be required to comply with network and IT system security measures to protect from cyber attacks. A draft law in this regard was voted today in two readings by the Parliament.
According to the draft Law on cyber security, a competent authority in cyber security will be appointed, which will identify and supervise service providers, so that they ensure an adequate level of security of networks and IT systems. Service providers will be identified based on several criteria. Among them are those who provide a service dependent on a network or computer system, the disruption of which could have a significant impact on public order, public security or public health. These providers will also be required to report significant cyber incidents.
The document was worked out by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, with the support of the European Union project "Moldova Cybersecurity Rapid Assistance" and transposes several EU directives.
