Moldovan products likely to be traded without taxes in four European countries

Chisinau, March 27 /MOLDPRES/- The Republic of Moldova and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) have reached a consensus regarding the signing of an Agreement that provides that Moldovan products will be able to be traded without taxes and tariffs in Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, countries that have among the richest economies from the world.
The agreement will provide better opportunities for Moldovan exports and reduce customs duties for goods imported from EFTA, which could encourage more companies from these countries to invest in the Republic of Moldova. Thus, a series of opportunities are opened for the creation of well-paid jobs in various sectors of the Moldovan economy.
The chief negotiator of the Republic of Moldova, Vadim Gumene, state secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization, said that the future signing of the Agreement represents an imperative step for boosting bilateral cooperation between the states.
The start of the procedures for signing the Agreement will take place during the ministerial meeting in Schaan, Liechtenstein, on June 26-27, 2023. The exports of Moldovan products on the market of EFTA countries during 2022 reached a value of 66.7 million dollars, while imports reached a value of 56 million dollars.
