Chisinau Court of Appeal issues final ruling on sentencing Ilan Shor for 15 years of imprisonment

Chisinau, 13 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau Court of Appeal issued a final ruling against the fled MP, Ilan Shor, and sentenced him to 15 years of imprisonment. The head of the parliament’s juridical commission for appointments and immunities, Olesea Stamate, made statements to this effect today.
„Wherever he serves the term, in Israel or Moldova, the assets on which distraint was levied will be now sequestrated for the state’s benefit – five billion lei. And this only on the file on which the ruling was pronounced today; others come next,’’ Olesea Stamate said.
„Shor will serve 15 years in jail for the theft of one billion dollars and his wealth will be confiscated. The Court of Appeal issued a ruling to this effect today. We demanded this, for justice to be done to the people. This fact was demanded by the citizens – those who steal must return the money and the law should be put on the forefront. Only in this way, the justice can acquire the legitimacy, through legal rulings, which punish the thieves and do justice,’’ according to President Maia Sandu.
