Head of state says Moldova repeatedly gets confirmation that it is expected in great European family

Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova today repeatedly got confirmation that it is expected in the great European family. In a resolution adopted a little time ago, the European Parliament asked for the starting of the negotiations on accession to EU till the end of the 2023 year and stressed the importance of Moldova for a united and strong Europe. President Maia Sandu has made statements to this effect.    

The head of state reiterated that Moldova’s place was in the European Union – as this is demanded by the Moldovan citizens; our institutions work for this goal and we enjoy every support of the European states to become EU member.   

”We thank our European friends, who trust us and appreciate our contribution to ensuring the stability and peace in the region. The state’s institutions will fulfill the recommendations by the European Commission, so that we are ready to start the negotiations on accession. We will say this clearly, with a single voice, on 21 May, at the citizens’ Assembly,’’ Maia Sandu wrote.   

The European Parliament, in a resolution, demanded the starting of the negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the European Union. In the document; the MEPs asked for: more financial and technical support on behalf of the European institutions provided to Moldova, for the reforms’ implementation, for measures of support meant for citizens, for combating actions of hybrid war on behalf of Russia; imposing sanctions against the oligarchs who, along with Russia, want to destabilize Moldova; full liberalization of the commerce between the European Union and Moldova and Moldova’s gradual integration into the EU’s Single Market.
