Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian today had a meeting with Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process Thomas Mayr-Harting. The latter was accompanied by Head of the OSCE Mission in Moldova Kelly Keiderling, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The Moldovan official reconfirmed Chisinau’s willingness to continue the constructive dialogue in the 1+1 formats and of the sectoral working groups, in order to identify technical and sustainable solutions to topical problems (free movement, permanent access to the farmlands in the Dubasari district, repair of bridges across the Dniester river, rational use of water resources, etc.). Serebrian also emphasized the need for Tiraspol to give up the tactics of excessive politicizing and unacceptable conditionings.
Oleg Serebrian noted that all meetings of the working groups, recently initiated by Chisinau (environmental protection, social issues and humanitarian assistance) had been postponed by Tiraspol. The Transnistrian side is also passive in the initiation of a new working meeting at the level of political representatives.
The officials stressed the OSCE’s importance in the process of negotiations and the need of preserving the full mandate in this respect. The sides also reiterated the idea of enhancing the European Union’s role in the talks on the Transnistrian settlement, from the viewpoint of covering the process of Moldova’s pre-accession to EU.
The deputy prime minister expressed concern about the incidents which continued to be recorded in the Security Zone, triggered by Russia’s peacekeepers and Tiraspol’s power wielding structures, with the unauthorized stopping of transport means, including of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Moldova, thorough control of documents, detailed interrogation.
