Several public transport stops modernized in Ungheni district

Chisinau, April 21 /MOLDPRES/- Over 60 thousand residents of Ungheni district who use urban and interurban public transport daily will have better and safer travel conditions. A project was carried out in Ungheni, which was officially inaugurated yesterday.
In nine localities of the district, 146 modern stops were set up, equipped with smart systems to inform travelers about the waiting time and public transport routes. The initiative is part of the project, Inter-sectoral cooperation for better conditions of public transport in the Ungheni district communities. The project is implemented by My Community programme.
The project was carried out in partnership with Ungheni town hall and eight neighboring localities, with the financial support of USAID and the district council.
"The five types of stops were installed in Ungheni municipality, the villages of Unțești, Cetireni, Costuleni and the communes of Florițoaia Veche, Mănoilești, Pârlița, Valea Mare and Zagarancea. Within the project, 106 stops were set up in the Ungheni municipality, 40 – in the other 8 localities in the district, and at least 20 transport units were equipped with a GPS system", indicates USAID.
My Community is an eight-year programme, funded by USAID and implemented by IREX, aimed at strengthening local governance and providing technical assistance to local public authorities in the Republic of Moldova to ensure efficient, transparent governance towards citizens.
