Russia's role in escalation of tensions in Moldova to be discussed at PACE spring session

Chisinau, April 21 /MOLDPRES/- Russia's role in the escalation of tensions in the Republic of Moldova is to be debated at the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The debate will take place on April 24. MPs Ion Groza, the head of the National Delegation to PACE, Mihail Popșoi, the deputy speaker and Natalia Davidovici will participate in the discussions.
The agenda of the PACE session also includes a debate on the situation of Ukrainian citizens, including children, forcibly displaced to the Russian Federation or to the territory of Ukraine under Russian control. First lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska will also participate in the discussions online.
The agenda also includes discussions on policy strategies to prevent and prepare for natural disasters and deal with their consequences, as well as on protecting democracy, rights and the environment in international trade. Also, the participants will refer to the implementation of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights and national constitutions. Another topic on the agenda is youth and media.
At the same time, President of Iceland Guðni Th. Johannesson will deliver a speech at the PACE meeting. Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović will present the annual activity report for 2022, and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić will answer the parliamentarians' questions.
The spring session of PACE will take place on April 24-28 in Strasbourg.
