USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu" to expand partnership with Stradiņš University in Riga

Chisinau, April 22 /MOLDPRES/- The State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemiţanu" of Moldova will expand its partnership with Stradiņš University of Latvia. USFM "Nicolae Testemiţanu" management made the statement at a meeting with a delegation from Riga.

According to USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu", the two higher education institutions will cooperate in the scientific research, teaching and clinical activity. In this context, a delegation came to Chisinau, represented by Eva Strīķe, Associate Professor at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, Faculty of Medicine, chief physician of "Pauls Stradiņš" Clinical University Hospital, and Egija Lapiņa, deputy chief physician of the institution.

The visit aimed at assessing the cooperative relations between the institutions and outlining the collaboration segments for the future. The Latvian doctors had a meeting with rector Emil Ceban, vice-rectors and representatives of the university subdivisions.

Rector Emil Ceban stressed the openness for inter-institutional cooperation. "Your support is significant for us, in the context of the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, in the field of clinical activity, the creation of a university hospital, academic mobility for students and teachers and the exchange of experience between specialists, the application of virtual programs in the study process and telemedicine", Ceban said.

The Latvian delegation was accompanied by Director of the Institute of Emergency Medicine in Chisinau, professor Mihai Ciocanu and Vice Director Gheorghe Cociorva, who spoke about the partnership with "Pauls Stradiņš" Clinical University Hospital and the implementation starting from 2022 of the joint project "Consolidation of civil society, increased resistance of society to disinformation, contributing to strategic communication and cooperation".

The project, financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia under the development assistance program, includes actions such as seminars, discussions and exchange visits, including addressing new topics for the project such as reducing the risks of corruption in medicine and strategic communication with refugees.
