Moldova must become EU member despite all challenges - speaker says

Chisinau, April 24 /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu participated today in a meeting of the speakers of the candidate countries for joining the European Union. At the event, the official presented the priorities of the governance agenda, as well as the challenges facing the Republic of Moldova in this period, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
Among the priorities are the reconstruction of the economy, energy security and the strengthening of state security, the justice reform, as well as improving living standards.
The speaker also referred to the European integration agenda, emphasizing the goal of initiating negotiations by the end of this year.
"In this context, we are implementing the European Commission's recommendations and transposing the European legislation at an accelerated pace. We are aware that this is a complex process, but we are determined to complete them as soon as possible. The Republic of Moldova must become a member of the EU despite the challenges we are facing", Grosu said.
On April 24 -25, Grosu is in the Czech Republic, where the Conference of speakers of the European Union is held. At the same time, he will have meetings with his counterparts from different countries, as well as with Moldovan citizens who live, study or work in the Czech Republic.
