Russia's war against Ukraine discussed at EU Speakers Conference

Chisinau, April 25 /MOLDPRES/- The issue of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine was discussed in Prague at the first session of the Conference of Speakers of the European Union. Speaker Igor Grosu participated in the event, along with more than 50 other speakers, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

Participants condemned Russia's war against Ukraine. "A war in which tens of thousands of innocent people die, in which strategic infrastructure and a booming and developing economy are destroyed, and millions of Ukrainians are forced to find refuge all over the world to save themselves from death," Grosu said.

At the same time, the participants in the event referred to the need for unity and solidarity at the global level to force the Russian Federation to leave Ukraine. "Peace in Ukraine is vital for the tranquility and well-being of the entire continent and it is essential for us in the Republic of Moldova, where we have security risks. The war also brought enormous economic and social damages to our country, which every citizen feels", Grosu said.

The Republic of Moldova participates for the first time in this event, as a candidate country for joining the European Union. 

The Conference of Speakers of the European Union is held on April 24-25 in Prague, Czech Republic. The second session will focus on discussions regarding the role of the EU in the cooperation of democracies, the consequences of information warfare, protection from disinformation, security issues. At the end of the two days of debates, the final declaration of the conference will be adopted.
