As many as 680 initiatives submitted to contest for Express European Village Programme in Moldova

Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 680 initiatives of projects have been submitted to the Express European Village Programme. The stage of the files’ reception ended on 16 May evening.  

Most initiatives, 284, regards the field of construction and renovation of sports and leisure areas, as well as of buildings meant for the providing of social services. At the same time, 155 concept notes were submitted for the rehabilitation of public buildings. Also, 106 mayoralties applied for the setting of public illumination in their settlements.     

The renovation of community centres is also among the priority sectors. Thus, 78 mayoralties asked for the cabinet’s support to this end, while the local administrations from another 57 settlements ruled that it was necessary to build photovoltaic stations.

As for the distribution of applications in regions, the mayoralties from central Moldova submitted most concept notes, 267, followed by the public administrations from the northern region, with 232 initiatives. Also, 150 mayoralties from the southern region and 18 from the Gagauz Autonomy applied for various development projects.   

The Express European Village Programme has been recently launched at the government, in order to modernize the rural infrastructure. The programme gives local authorities possibility to access financial support worth 450,000 lei (22.5 thousand euros), in order to implement quick projects, with an implementation term of six months at the most.    

According to the National Office for Regional and Local Development (ONDRL), the concept notes are to be assessed by an inter-ministerial commission.
