Moldova continues to modernize defense sector according to international standards

Chisinau, May 17 /MOLDPRES/- The security challenges caused by Russia's war against Ukraine, the opportunities to strengthen the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) and the constant objective of developing the defense capabilities and transformation of the National Army, adjusted to international standards were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the delegation led by Admiral Robert Bauer, Chair of the Military Committee of NATO, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Recean appreciated the support for various programs and projects of common interest, noting that the development of defense capabilities, the strengthening of national resilience against new challenges and the fight against hybrid threats is in the constant attention of the authorities.
According to Recean, the government has taken decisive steps: the defense budget has been increased, the presence of the Moldovan military in international peacekeeping operations has been increased. As a result, the Republic of Moldova has already become a state that is a security provider in the region.
The parties agreed to boost the dialogue for the training of experts and for other concrete actions, in order to increase the interoperability and professionalism of the Moldovan military.
