Chisinau, May 18. /MOLDPRES/- Energy companies from the EU, along with the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and the states of the Western Balkans - have submitted bids of 11.6 billion cubic meters of gas on the AggregateEU platform until last week, while the offer of the suppliers who participated in the first round was 13.4 billion cubic meters. The European Commission said that the first tender on EU joint gas procurement platform was a "remarkable success".
Energocom company requested purchase bids on the EU joint gas procurement platform for volumes of 5,000 MWh/month, in total 60,000 MWh, this being the minimum volume allowed by the platform, aimed at testing its operation.
According to the Ministry of Energy, about a fifth of the total gas volume is liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is delivered by ships to terminals located mainly on the Iberian peninsula and in the North Sea, with the remaining 80% being requested via pipeline.
