EU, WHO donated ultrasonograph, several drugs to Oncology Institute

Chisinau, May 18. /MOLDPRES/- A high-performance ultrasonograph and a batch of medicines worth more than 370 thousand US dollars were donated today to the Oncology Institute by the European Union and the World Health Organization.
Attending the donation event were Ion Prisăcaru, state secretary of the Ministry of Health and representative of the WHO in the Republic of Moldova Miljana Grbic.
According to the health official, the new ultrasonographer will come to the aid of doctors to facilitate procedures such as tissue sampling, biopsy. He thanked the European partners for the help provided to the healthcare system in Moldova, including during the COVID pandemic.
According to specialists, the new ultrasonograph will help early detection of cancer and reduce the waiting time for patients who need investigations.
Today, the Oncology Institute also received 2,000 vials of drugs for the treatment of several types of cancer which will be sufficient to treat patients at the Oncology Institute for a period of three months.
