Meteorologists inform about Yellow Code of fire danger in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) today informed about a Yellow Code of fire danger. The latter will be valid till 26 June in the northern and central areas of Moldova.

According to meteorologists, the exceptional fire danger (class V) with natural character will be maintained in these regions till 26 June.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the press officer of the National Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Liliana Puscasu, said that, given the issuance of the warning, residents are urged to avoid the use of open fire nearby dwellings, annexes to households and fodder deposits, on grounds covered by dry vegetation, especially when they are placed nearby forests, plantations and objects with high risk of fire.

‘’People choosing to go to picnic must be attentive too. They should be prudent when using open fire and should not throw away lighted cigarettes at random, in order not to trigger an eventual fire. Before leaving, they must make sure that stakes are extinguished with water and covered with soil,’’ Liliana Puscasu stressed.

The air temperatures are expected to increase up to 33 Celsius degrees during the day and at +18 degrees at night on the days to come.
