Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Day of commemoration and reconciliation in the memory of those who died in the World War II will be marked in Moldova on 8 May. The government approved a draft to this effect today.

Thus, the draft sees that the Day of Victory and commemoration of the heroes dead for the Motherland, which was marked on 9 May, will be renamed into Day of commemoration and reconciliation in the memory of those who died in the World War I and will be transferred for 8 May.

The initiative belongs to a group of MPs of the Action and Solidarity Party ‘’This draft law is needed, taking into account the confusion still persisting between the real date (8 May) of the end of the World War II on the European continent, on the one hand, and the one of 9 May, imposed by Stalin and the USSR in the socialist camp, - in order to claim a primordial role in the victory over the former Nazi allies,’’ the initiative’s authors say.

The draft law will be submitted to parliament for consideration.
