Moldovan president has meeting with Romanian PM, president of Senate

Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today in Chisinau met Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu and President of the Senate Nicolae Ciuca, on their first official visit after the recent taking over of the new positions, the presidential press service has reported.
At the meeting with the Romanian officials, the head of state said: ‘’In the last years, the cooperation between Chisinau and Bucharest has been quite good, just as it is natural, and we are grateful to receive today the guarantee that the things will continue in the same direction. We feel Bucharest’s support at every step in our process of accession to EU and we thank it that is a true supporter at all European forums.’’
Also, the Moldovan president stressed that the excellent partnership with Romania was materialized in concrete things in important sectors for Moldova. ‘’We are set to speed up the projects on energy interconnection and infrastructure, which are essential for the energy security and economic development of Moldova. Following the opening, one month ago, of the pontoon bridge Leova-Bumbata, the rehabilitation of the cross-border bridges comes next: Leuseni-Albita, Cahul-Oancea and Sculeni-Sculeni.’’
At the same time, Maia Sandu said that „Romania helps us modernize the settlements – 58 projects are financed within the European Village programme. Moldova will continue its European way with confidence, with the support of Romania and the backing of other European partners.’’
