National Costume Day established in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Cabinet of ministers approved the initiative to establish the National Costume Day, to promote and turn into account the traditional costume at a meeting today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Thus, the government proposed to complete a parliament decision on commemorative days, holiday and days off in Moldova with a new provision, which establishes that Moldova will mark the National Costume Day each year on the fourth Sunday of June.
The national costume is an identity brand, a symbol that represents the country along with the state symbols: coat of arms, flag, and emblems. The latest events dedicated to this national costume, which produced a major impact on society, were the “Ie” (traditional shirt) Festival and National Costume Parade.
