Moldovan PM says fake news on alleged plan of military actions in Transnistrian region part of hybrid war

Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean today said that the fake news spread in the public space on the so-called plan of military actions in the Transnistrian region was part of the hybrid war.  

„I notice again a campaign of misinformation or even hysterization. New fake news is promoted in the public space and an apocalyptic scenario that Moldova would intend to take over the control of the Transnistrian region, to make military scenarios. I say once again: this is part of the hybrid war. Those who launch such scenarios, I mean the Kremlin, would better do what they are obliged to do under the contract – to deliver natural gas to the left bank of Dniester,’’ Dorin Recean said in the beginning of the cabinet meeting today.  

The Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia (SVR) today reported that President Maia Sandu would prepare a plan ‘’for a military operation of taking over the control over the Transnistrian region.’’

The head of the Office of Moldova’s president, Adrian Balutel, denied the information, stressing that this is ‘’serious and dangerous misinformation, conceived to spread panic and distrust.’’     

At the same time, the Reintegration Policies Bureau came up with a reaction to this case. The Bureau noted that ‘’the spread of alleged ‘’operative information’’ of SVR on an imaginary Moldovan military operation in the region, reconfirms the hypothesis that the Russian authorities and their ‘’partners’’ from our country try to destabilize the situation in Moldova, to disseminate fear and distrust among the citizens and extend the area of unsafety and confrontation in the zone.’’
