72 entrepreneurs to receive grants worth 41 million lei

Chisinau, Dec. 23 /MOLDPRES/- A total of 72 Moldovan companies will receive grants worth 41 million lei from the Moldovan government, the European Union and the World Bank. The support will generate total investments in the economy of over 89 million lei. The beneficiaries of the grants were announced today in Chisinau.

Almost half of the beneficiaries are from the industrial sector. Another 30% from the service sector and 20% from the agricultural sector.

Attending the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba said that the authorities have implemented an intense reform agenda, which is producing results in the lives of entrepreneurs. 

He noted that in the next three years, 5 thousand new businesses and 25 companies already created will benefit from support through the Economic Growth Plan worth 1.8 billion euros announced by the European Union, which is to be operationalized in 2025.

Director of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development /ODA/ Vadim Codreanu said that during the year, 595 companies have benefited from non-reimbursable financing through the organization's programs. In addition, the Government has recently allocated an additional 100 million lei to support entrepreneurs, which means that the total amount of support for businesses will exceed 350 million lei this year. Of this amount, 279 will be allocated from the state budget, while the rest of the resources will come from development partners.

Aurel Casian, executive director of the World Bank's Competitiveness Enhancement Project Implementation Unit, encouraged entrepreneurs to apply for the programs managed by ODA, "because through this financing, entrepreneurs in our country have opportunities to develop their businesses and access new markets."

Since the beginning of the year, ODA has facilitated access to grants for around 600 companies in various sectors.
